2009 bellydancer of the year - maria

Maria wins the coveted title - Bellydancer of the Year, 2009!

In May of 2009, Maria won the Bellydancer of the Year Pageant here in Northern California. This event is one of the oldest bellydance competitons in the United States and dancers come from all over the world to compete for the title.

Maria began studying raks sharki with Sandra in 2004. As well as being a full-time mom to her 3 year old daughter, she practices tirelessly and brings an open attitude for learning to every class. Sandra is so grateful for the inspiration she provides to all the students coming up behind her. Keep up the good work, Maria! .

Lara has been taking the competition circuit by storm for the last year, using it as a supportive place to practice her performance skills before moving into professional, paid performance jobs.
